Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin or PMAY-G was initiated with the objective of “Housing for All” by 2020. 

This scheme provides a 25-square meter pucca house to the eligible beneficiaries along with other basic amenities at a low cost. 

Features of PMAY Gramin 

  • The beneficiaries are allotted Rs.1.20 lakh for each unit. The cost will be shared between the central and state government in 60:40 ratio. 
  • The sanctioned amount increases to Rs.1.30 lakh per unit for locations in north-eastern states, Himalayan states and Union Territories. In this case, the expenses of the construction will be divided into the ratio of 90:10 that will be shared by the Central and State Government. 
  • The eligibility of the beneficiaries will be determined based on the report of Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) that Gram Sabhas will verify.  
  • For Union Territories, the Central Government of India will offer up to 100% financing. 
  • The sanctioned home loanamount will be credited to the borrower’s Aadhaar-linked bank or post office account.

  • An MGNREGA-registered Job Card number of the beneficiary
